Analysis of Fin Stabilizer Base on NACA 0010 in Fast Patrol Boat to Reduce Appendage Resistance on Numerical Method

Abstract The main function of the fin stabilizer on patrol boats is anti-rolling and providing comfort for ship personnel. However, installation has a consequence in form appendage resistance ship. This study analyzes magnitude due to NACA 0010 mounted 60m boat at an angle 0º. Reduction expected improve performance which then can optimize use fuels minimize pollution. In early stages, bare hull was validated with results model test towing tank difference less than 3%. Based simulation results, it known that average value Fine Marine Numeca 1.87% higher Maxsurf software. From testing 3 variations shape fin, 2 1.04%, 1 1.26% while 1.6%. smaller variation models.
